HotFix for Score

We are very sorry, there are few problems in the FW 5.4 (5.3 affected as well):

  • some cubes (not all) during score announcement end in infinitive audio loop – reason is known, solution is FW 5.5 or higher, dowload at support page.
  • some scores are stored with wrong values – reason is known, solution is FW 5.6, dowload at support page.

Please note that FW 5.6 will erase score you have achieved in FW 5.5, if you are not sure you can make the same or better score again, please send us your actual score from FW 5.5 and than upgrade! We will examine the score if it is possibly affected.

Reason for the first problem:

Algorithm for side tap detection in the Rubik’s Futuro Cube is more complex than it appears. Signal from sensor needs lots of post processing (filtering). For example one of the big problem we are facing to is how to remove false detection caused by audio vibration from speaker. We are still trying to improve this process and deliver the best game experience. We had observed that for most of the users is easy to work with cube for the first time, but for some others (it is not their mistake) the cube is very hard to handle even if they seemingly do everything correct.

It is due to the mechanical structure of the cube, position of the sensor (not in mass center of the cube) and special special grip that some people use. In these cases sometimes taps are detected from wrong side and etc..

In FW 5.3 we started to use new version of detection mechanism, that was suppose to be more accurate for everyone. However even fully tested on several pieces, the algorithm does false detection occasionally when sound volume is high. This behavior with new score display function can creates endless loop, because it appears as the user double tap during the score announcement audio playback. We are working on fix. Good news is that the algorithm is really better in many ways.

Reason for the second problem:

It seems like there is some issue with PAWN interpret, because problems with score has been reported from users who downloaded and installed some additional games. This problem is still under investigation, however the score problem has been fixed and it should not happen that the score is stored with nonsense values. To examine if your score is affected, check the Hi-Score Table Output and look for example for some extremely high scores for SNAKE or text “RES”. If you install new FW 5.6, old score will be unfortunately erased and you should not experience this problem again.
